On Tuesday 10th of March we had our Senior House Athletics Carnival at Llanberris Reserve and were joined by Lucas Primary School. All of our students did very well, showed great school spirit and demonstrated our school values with pride.
During the day students rotated through eight event stations including long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus, 100m, 200m and hurdles. 10, 11 and 12 years age groups were also allowed to try the 800m run during the lunch break with many students attempting the distance for the first time.
Our final event of the day were the relays with house and school pride up for grabs, along with house points. It was great to hear all the cheering and support our students were showing all students from both schools.
Good luck to all students who are progressing on to represent Dana Street at the Sturt District Athletics on Wednesday 22nd of April (Week 2 Term 2). It is anticipated that the age group champion medals will be presented at assembly on Friday 20th of March. Finally a huge thank you must go out to all the helpers on the day and in the lead up to the event. Without them our day would not have run as smoothly as it did.
Thank you to all volunteers, parents, Phoenix College and Woodmans Hill Secondary College students and to the staff of both Dana Street and Lucas Primary School.
The final standings at the conclusion of the day were:
Place | House / School | Points |
1st | Martin House | 521 |
2nd | Baker | 475 |
3rd | Spielvogel House | 464 |
4th | Dunne House | 379 |
