learning sampleAt Dana Street Primary School, we incorporate digital technologies across all learning areas in conjunction with the Victorian Curriculum. We consider it a high priority to expose our students to the ever-evolving digital world, with a range of digital resources in our school. Each classroom utilises computers, tablets, interactive whiteboards and big screen TVs to support student learning.

Our students are exposed to a range of computer and online software, as they are explicitly taught the skills required by the Victorian Curriculum.

From Foundation to Year six, the students work their way through our digital licence program. This involves students learning computer skills and cybersafety strategies over four stages throughout their schooling. As students achieve a level, they graduate to the next licence. The licences align closely with the Victorian Curriculum area of Digital Technologies, allowing teachers to implement instruction for specific technology skills, while also teaching cybersafety.  Our work in this area has resulted in our accreditation as an eSmart school.

Students in years 3 to 6 participate in our 1:1 computer program. This is implemented through leased devices by families and also school owned devices. These devices are an instrumental tool for all curriculum areas and are used in each student’s learning day. This program successfully prepares our students for year 7 and beyond, where technology will continue to play a role in their lives.
